Foster Families are needed throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. To Foster is to share heart and home with a child/youth. Foster Families provide a nurturing, supportive home environment for children. This session will address the concept of discipline focused on developmental need not chronological age and how behaviours are the child’s way of expressing a need or a want. As, well, they will discuss the parental role in the discipline process: using active listening, responding versus reacting, avoiding power struggles and using natural and logical consequences.
